The Gore-Tex membrane is an exclusive heat-sealed technical fabric that contains approximately 1.4 million micropores per cm2. These micropores are approximately 20,000 times larger than smaller than a drop of water, however 700 times more larger than a molecule of wet vapor. Thus, while drops of water cannot penetrate the membrane, steam can escape easily.
